Abstract

This study examines the effect of exposure to health talk shows on healthy lifestyle change among stroke survivors in a stroke rehabilitation community in Indonesia. Using a quantitative cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 86 respondents who had watched the Go Healthy program on Metro TV. Health talk show exposure was measured by viewing frequency, viewing duration, attention, and message comprehension, while healthy lifestyle change was measured by healthy diet, physical activity, medication adherence, and stress management. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings show that exposure to health talk shows has a positive and significant effect on healthy lifestyle change among stroke survivors, with a significance value of 0.000 and a regression coefficient of 0.725. The coefficient of determination indicates that 45.7% of healthy lifestyle change is explained by exposure to the health talk show, while the remaining 54.3% is influenced by other factors. These findings suggest that television-based health communication remains a relevant educational and motivational medium for supporting post-stroke recovery and secondary prevention.
