Abstract

The basic technical ability in volleyball is a fundamental skill that is crucial for students in physical education learning, as it plays a role in supporting game mastery and students' overall physical development. However, in reality, students' basic volleyball technical skills, particularly underhand serve and underhand passing, are still relatively low. Many students have not mastered these techniques well, resulting in incomplete learning outcomes. This condition is influenced by various factors, such as a lack of internal motivation, fear or reluctance to perform movements, and less varied and innovative teaching methods. This article aims to identify the causes of low volleyball basic technical skills among students and find strategies to improve them. The method used is a literature review, examining several relevant journal sources. The results indicate that low basic technical ability is not only caused by students, but also influenced by the learning environment and suboptimal learning processes. To address this problem, several strategies are needed, such as using modified balls, applying play methods, and creating active, innovative, creative, effective, and enjoyable learning situations. With cooperation between teachers, students, and schools, it is hoped that students' basic volleyball technical skills can improve significantly.
