This research is an event study with an event window of 7 trading days. This research was conducted at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, with a total population of 728 companies. Samples were taken using a proportioned stratified random sampling technique of 258 companies. The analysis technique used is the one-sample t-test on the cumulative abnormal return (CAR). Firm value is a market value that can provide prosperity to shareholders. They want the market price of the companies under their control to increase. They need fundamental company information such as information about the company's profitability, leverage or capital structure of institutional ownership, and use that information to make decisions or release shares that they already hold. This study aims to obtain empirical evidence of the effect of profitability, leverage, and institutional ownership on the value of transportation companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2010-2014. The number of samples, using a purposive sampling method of 14 companies from 33 companies so that the total observations obtained were 70 observations. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis prove that profitability and institutional ownership have a positive effect and leverage has a negative effect on the value of transportation companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Abstract

The primary goal of a company is to generate high profits and ensure the welfare of its shareholders by increasing the firm’s value. This study aims to provide empirical evidence on the impact of profitability and free cash flow on the value of a firm. The sample for this study encompasses all companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange that have published complete financial reports from 2017-2022. The selection of the sample for this study was done using non-probability sampling, resulting in a sample size of 373 companies. Multiple linear regression analysis techniques were applied in this study, utilizing the STATA application. The results demonstrated that both profitability and free cash flow have a positive influence on a firm’s value.
