Abstract

Mathematical representation skills are essential for helping students build concepts and express mathematical ideas using symbols, images, and words. However, students’ mathematical representation skills remain relatively low, so innovations in learning approaches are needed to encourage students to construct meaningful knowledge. This study aims to develop a student worksheet based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach that is valid and practical, and that facilitates the development of mathematical representation skills among phase D students. This study uses a 4D Development model consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The research instruments include a validation sheet and a practicality questionnaire. The validation results show that the worksheet is highly valid, with an average percentage score of 95.70%, while the practicality test results from field tests conducted on 37 students of class IX.2 SMPN 4 Pekanbaru obtained a percentage of 89.32% with a very practical category. Thus, the RME-based student worksheet developed has met the criteria of validity and practicality and is suitable for use in learning to support students' mathematical representation skills.
