Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of kiai leadership and ustadz competence on students' learning motivation at the Al Hasan Islamic Boarding School in Ciamis. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research instrument was compiled based on indicators of kiai leadership, ustadz competence, and students' learning motivation. Data were analyzed using multiple regression to examine partial and simultaneous influences between variables. The results showed that kiai leadership significantly influenced students' learning motivation, particularly through role models, spiritual guidance, moral support, and communication patterns that foster emotional closeness. Ustadz competence also significantly influenced, particularly in pedagogical aspects and the ability to manage learning in an interesting and relevant way to students' lives. Simultaneously, kiai leadership and ustadz competence strongly contributed to increasing students' learning motivation. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening kiai leadership capacity and improving ustadz competence in the Islamic boarding school education system.
