Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in the subject of science through the application of experiential learning models combined with realia media in class IV of SDN Kuta Pasie, Aceh Besar. This study uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is implemented in two cycles, including the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages, with 22 students as subjects. Data collection techniques are carried out through learning outcome tests and observations of student activities. The implementation of learning follows the stages of experiential learning, namely real experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experiments, supported by the use of realia media to provide direct and concrete learning experiences. The results of the study showed an increase in student learning outcomes, where in the first cycle as many as 15 students (68.8%) achieved KKTP ≥ 75, and increased in the second cycle to 19 students (86.3%) thus achieving classical completeness. The application of experiential learning models with realia media is able to increase student activity more meaningfully. Although this research is limited to one class and specific material, the results provide practical implications that integrating the experiential learning model and realia media can be an effective and contextual alternative learning strategy in elementary school science lessons.
