Abstract

The elderly population, who are more susceptible to infection and chronic illnesses, are particularly susceptible to gout. The Pakong Health Center Working Area has a high prevalence of gout among the elderly population. The study examines the relationship between physical activity and stress, with uric acid levels as the dependent variable. The study involved 60 patients with gout, with a sample size of 53. The DASS physical activity questionnaire was used to gather data. The results showed that 77% of participants engaged in moderate physical activity, while almost 40% fell into the moderate stress group. The majority of uric acid levels were elevated, with 36 out of 68% being elevated. The Spearman Rank analysis yielded a p-value of 0.005, indicating a correlation between physical activity and uric acid levels in the elderly. Additionally, a p-value of 0.000, indicating a link between stress levels and gout occurrence, suggests that older individuals should enhance their physical activity and manage their nutrition to lower uric acid levels. Additionally, seniors should reduce stress by improving their religious practices, expressing their concerns, and maintaining a positive mindset.

Abstract

The elderly are one of the groups of people who are vulnerable to diseases because they have different physiological and psychological functions. Hypertension is one of the most dangerous health problems around the world because hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke and kidney disease. The purpose of this community service is to apply the results of previous research, namely to increase the knowledge of the elderly on hypertension prevention with the Emo-Demo method. This community service was carried out by starting with counseling activities about hypertension and then demonstrating hypertension intervention with the Emo-Demo method, followed by measuring blood pressure and blood glucose levels. The results of the examination based on the level of hypertension were more than half of the elderly were categorized as level one hypertension 13 (38%) and level two as many as 17 elderly (50%), while based on blood glucose levels, half of them were categorized as normal as many as 17 elderly people (50%). Based on the results of the general evaluation of the intervention carried out in community service, after being evaluated, it was found that most of the elderly understood and were motivated to care about hypertension prevention with the Emo-Demo method. The next suggestion is that in order for this activity to continue, it is necessary to strengthen the posyandu cadres to continue to provide knowledge on how to prevent hypertension using the Emo-Demo method

Abstract

As they age, many seniors experience stress. Stress is a person's inability to cope with challenges, which can lead to increased blood sugar. Blood sugar is a source of energy for energy production. One indicator for detecting PAD is the ABI. is a diagnostic examination of the lower extremities to detect the possibility of decreased peripheral perfusion by comparing the systolic pressure of the ankle and arm. Research This aim to analyze the relationship between stress levels and blood sugar with the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) value as an early detection of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) in type II diabetes mellitus patients at the Elderly Posyandu, Mlajah Village, Bangkalan. This type of research is analytic correlation with cross-sectional design The population in this study was the entire population of type II DM patients at the Elderly Posyandu, Mlajah Village, Bangkalan with a total of a sample of 42 respondents, using the probability sampling technique , namely simple random sampling . Variables Independent Stress Level and Variables dependent ABI value with research statistical test use Spearman rank obtained the p value (0.000) with a significance level of α (0.05), meaning the p value <α with the conclusion that there is connection between level stress and sugar blood with ABI value . Based on the interpretation table of stress levels with ABI values, the r value is (0.516), and the interpretation table of blood sugar with ABI values, the r value is (0.636) so that the correlation between the two variables can be said to be strong. Stress levels, blood sugar levels, and ABI values are related. This research is expected to help the public, especially those with diabetes mellitus who participated, improve their health.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a progressive condition affecting the joints, where there is an accumulation of cellular stress, breakdown of the extracellular matrix, and gradual deterioration of the articular cartilage. This leads to the bones rubbing against each other, causing pain, stiffness, and impaired mobility. The Kwanyar Community Health Center documented a total of 194 instances of knee osteoarthritis between July and September 2022. The objective of this research is to examine the correlation between body mass index and smoking habits, as well as the occurrence of knee osteoarthritis in older individuals, using the Western Ontario and McMaster index. The study design employs analytics using a cross-sectional methodology. The survey had a total of 86 participants. There were 54 responders from whom samples were obtained. The sample approach employs probability sampling with the Simple Random sample technique. The data collecting method employs a questionnaire form. The statistical analysis employs the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of 0.05. The ethical testing of this study has been conducted by the KEPK STIKes Ngudia Husada Madura team. The study findings indicate that the analysis is conducted using the Spearman Rank statistical test, yielding a significant result (p=0.000) which is lower than the significance level (a=0.05). It may be inferred that there is a correlation between body mass index and smoking habits in connection to the occurrence of knee osteoarthritis in older individuals, as measured by the Western Ontario and McMaster index. For the aged, it is advisable to enhance their body mass index and modify their smoking habit as a preventive measure against knee osteoarthritis. The study aims to investigate the correlation between the respondents' understanding of body mass index and smoking habits, and the occurrence of knee osteoarthritis in older individuals.
