Abstract

Irrational drug use remains a public health problem in Indonesia. The primary contributing factor is a lack of understanding of how to properly obtain, use, store, dispose of drugs. Students attending Pharmacy Vocational High Schoola (SMK), as a future pharmaceutical technicians, need to be equipped with this understanding from an early age. The DAGUSIBU (Obtain, Use, Store, Dispose of Drugs Correctly) program is an educational approach almed at raising this awareness. This community service activity was conducted by the pharmacy Diploma Student association of Bhakti Kencana University at Istiqomah Maruyung Pharmacy Vocational High School, Cipeujeuh, Pacet district, Bandung regency. 45 Students participated. The methods included presentations, case studies, discussions, question and answer sessions. The material covered obtaining drugs from authorized facilities, the “ask 50” principle, safe drug storage, disposal practices. The activity was evaluated using pre test, post test questionnaires. Pre test results showed a wide range of scores. Post test result demonstrated significant improvement. The majority of participants achieved maximum scores. Participants actively engaged in discussions, raised questions throughout the activity. The DAGUSIBU program proved effective in improvibg students understandibf of proper drug management. This represents a concrete step toward supporting the rational, safe use medicines the wider community
