Abstract

This article aims to analyze the Qur'anic verses on halal and haram foods through a biomedical perspective.  Some food prohibitions and recommendations in the Qur'ān have long been interpreted from a religious perspective, but the health implications of these provisions have not been comprehensively studied using modern scientific approaches.  The aim of this article is to understand the relationship between halal and haram food provisions in the Qur'ān and current scientific knowledge on nutrition and health.  The method of analysis used involves a critical review of relevant Qur'ānic verses, with an emphasis on Surah Al-Maidah and others, as well as a review of scientific literature on nutrition and the impact of consumption of different types of food on human health. The results of the analysis are expected to show the harmony between the food provisions in the Qur'an and modern health principles, while identifying the potential health benefits of consuming halal foods and the health risks of consuming haram foods.  This study has limitations in that it focuses on nutritional aspects and does not cover microbiological and toxicological aspects of food in detail, which could be the focus of future research
