Abstract

The prevalence of people with hypertension is on the rise, due to issues with uric acid and blood glucose levels. This study aims to identify the relationship between uric acid and blood glucose levels and blood pressure in individuals with hypertension. A cross-sectional study design was used. The study population consisted of 32 individuals with hypertension, with the sample obtained through total sampling. The independent variables in this study were uric acid levels and blood glucose levels, while the dependent variable was blood pressure. The instrument used was an observation sheet. For data analysis, the Spearman rank test was used. The results of this study showed that the mean uric acid level was 7.3; the mean blood glucose level was 170.8 mg/dL; and the mean blood pressure was 152/99 mmHg. Statistical tests revealed a strong association between uric acid levels (p-value 0.009; r = 0.5) and blood glucose levels (p-value 0.008; r = 0.4) and blood pressure among patients with hypertension at the Malang Senior Citizens’ Home. Future research could focus on preventive measures targeting the causes of hypertension.
