Abstract

Hypertension is a major non-communicable disease that can lead to serious complications if not properly managed. Effective hypertension management requires adequate self-confidence to enable patients to perform self-management effectively. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between self-confidence and self-management among patients with hypertension at the Kawatuna Public Health Center. This study employed an analytical cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 146 patients with hypertension, with a sample of 59 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using self-confidence and self-management questionnaires. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, with the Chi-square test performed at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had a low level of self-confidence (40 respondents; 67.8%), while the majority had poor self-management (32 respondents; 54.2%). The Chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant relationship between self-confidence and self-management among patients with hypertension at the Kawatuna Public Health Center. In conclusion, there was a significant relationship between self-confidence and self-management among patients with hypertension. Improving self-confidence may be an important aspect of supporting patients in managing their condition.
