Abstract

Coastal water pollution is an environmental problem caused by human actions, household waste, and tourism activities in coastal areas. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of water pollution on environmental quality in the coastal area of Kuranji, West Lombok. This study uses descriptive techniques using simple qualitative methods. Data collection is carried out through direct observation, environmental documentation, and testing of air samples. The observation focused on the color of the water, the aroma of the environment, the cultivation of waste, and actions in coastal areas. The results of the study indicate that the coastal waters in Keranji are visually considered slightly turbid, with the discovery of plastic waste and household waste in the area. The measured pH of seawater is 7.8, while freshwater in the observation area has a pH of 7.5. These values are still within the range for coastal waters, although signs of pollution are still visible through the accumulation of waste and community actions along the coastline. Water pollution in coastal areas can have an impact on environmental health, ecosystem stability, and the attractiveness of the coastline. Therefore, environmental management and increasing public awareness are very important to reduce pollution in coastal areas.
