Abstract

ABSTRACT Aedes aegypti is the primary vector of dengue fever, and chemical larvicides are still widely used even though they may cause environmental pollution and insect resistance. Therefore, plant-based larvicides are needed as safer alternatives. Daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) contains secondary metabolites that are suspected to have larvicidal activity. Purpose to determine the larvicidal effect of Averrhoa bilimbi leaf extract on Aedes aegypti larvae. This experimental study used a Posttest With Control Group design with four treatment groups: control, 0.15%, 0.30%, and 0.60%. Each group consisted of 10 larvae and was replicated three times. Mortality was observed for 24 hours, followed by statistical analysis (Kruskal–Wallis, Mann–Whitney) and probit analysis to determine LT50. Mean mortality increased with higher concentrations, reaching 36% at 0.15%, 56% at 0.30%, and 76% at 0.60%, while no mortality occurred in the control group. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed a significant difference among groups (p 0.05). The Mann-Whitney test revealed significant differences between the control and each concentration (p = 0.034) as well as among concentrations (p = 0.043). Probit analysis indicated LT50 values of 19.8 hours at 0.30% and 14.6 hours at 0.60%, whereas 0.15% did not reach 50% mortality within 24 hours. Bilimbi leaf extract demonstrates significant larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti, with increasing effectiveness at higher concentrations and longer exposure times. The extract shows potential as a plant-based larvicide; however, further research with broader concentration ranges and larger sample sizes is recommended. Keywords: Aedes Aegypti, Averrhoa Bilimbi, Plant-Based Larvacide.  ABSTRAK Aedes aegypti merupakan vektor utama demam berdarah. Penggunaan insektisida kimia dalam jangka panjang dapat menimbulkan resistensi dan dampak lingkungan, sehingga diperlukan alternatif larvasida berbahan nabati. Daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) diketahui mengandung metabolit sekunder yang berpotensi sebagai larvasida. Tujuan mengetahui daya bunuh ekstrak daun belimbing wuluh terhadap larva Aedes aegypti. Penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan Posttest With Control Group pada empat kelompok: kontrol, 0,15%, 0,30%, dan 0,60%. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 10 larva dan diulang tiga kali. Pengamatan mortalitas dilakukan selama 24 jam. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Kruskal–Wallis, Mann–Whitney, serta analisis probit untuk menentukan nilai LT50. Rata-rata mortalitas meningkat seiring kenaikan konsentrasi, yaitu 36% (0,15%), 56% (0,30%), dan 76% (0,60%), sedangkan kontrol tidak menunjukkan kematian. Uji Kruskal-Wallis menunjukkan perbedaan mortalitas yang signifikan antar kelompok (p 0,05). Uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kontrol dan setiap konsentrasi (p = 0,034), serta antar-konsentrasi (p = 0,043). Analisis probit menunjukkan nilai LT50 sebesar 19,8 jam pada konsentrasi 0,30% dan 14,6 jam pada konsentrasi 0,60%, sedangkan konsentrasi 0,15% tidak mencapai 50% kematian dalam 24 jam. Ekstrak daun belimbing wuluh memiliki daya bunuh yang bermakna terhadap larva Aedes aegypti, dengan efektivitas yang meningkat seiring peningkatan konsentrasi dan waktu paparan. Ekstrak ini berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai larvasida nabati, namun diperlukan penelitian lanjutan dengan variasi konsentrasi lebih luas dan ukuran sampel lebih besar. Kata Kunci: Aedes Aegypti, Averrhoa Bilimbi, Larvasida Nabati.
