Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are among the most prevalent occupational diseases in office settings, driven by physical-biomechanical risk factors including body posture and repetition. This study aimed to analyze the association between body posture and repetition with MSD complaints among office workers at PT X. An observational-analytic cross-sectional design was employed. Sixty workers from three administrative units were recruited via proportional random sampling. Body posture was assessed using the Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA), repetition using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.761), and MSD complaints using the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ). Bivariate analysis applied Rank Spearman correlation (α = 0.05). Most workers had non-risky postures (62%), yet the mean ROSA score was 4.85, approaching the risk threshold. Repetition was predominantly moderate to high (38% each). MSD complaints were mostly mild (48%), with the highest prevalence in the neck (60%), lower back (48%), and hip/buttock (48%). Body posture was significantly associated with MSDs (p<0.001; r=0.588), as was repetition (p=0.049; r=0.255). Body posture and repetition were both significantly and positively associated with MSD complaints. Ergonomics education, structured micro-breaks, and periodic posture evaluation are recommended as prevention strategies.
