Abstract

Drug storage is a critical component of pharmaceutical services, directly affecting drug quality, stability, and safety before use by patients. Based on Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 73 of 2016 concerning Pharmaceutical Service Standards in Pharmacies, drug storage must apply alphabetical and dosage-form arrangement, First In First Out (FIFO) and First Expired First Out (FEFO) methods, and proper management of high-risk medicines. This study aimed to evaluate the compliance of the drug storage system at Y Pharmacy, Pekalongan, with the Pharmaceutical Service Standards, and to assess the implementation of FIFO, FEFO, and storage facilities. A descriptive observational method with a qualitative approach was used. Data were collected through checklist-based observation, interviews with the responsible pharmacist and pharmaceutical technical staff, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using Guttman scale percentage calculations. The results showed that storage facilities achieved 100% compliance, while the drug storage system reached 88.23%, categorized as good. The only non-compliance found was the lack of separation and labeling of Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) and High-Alert medicines. Overall, the storage system at Y Pharmacy has met the applicable standards, although risk-management aspects still require improvement to minimize the potential for medication errors.
