Abstract

The transformation of higher education requires private universities to implement effective governance to enhance the quality of human resources and institutional competitiveness. This study aims to identify the main findings and future research directions regarding Good University Governance (GUG) within the context of human resource empowerment in private universities. The study employs a qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Data were obtained by searching Scopus-indexed scientific articles using the keyword "good university governance." The review process was conducted systematically through the stages of identification, selection, analysis, and synthesis of relevant articles. The results indicate that the implementation of Good University Governance principles, such as transparency, accountability, participation, independence, and fairness, contributes to improving the quality of university governance and supporting the development of human resource competencies. Furthermore, the application of GUG fosters a more adaptive, collaborative, and performance-oriented academic environment. This review also reveals that research on Good University Governance in private universities is still relatively limited; thus, further research development is required to integrate aspects of leadership, digital transformation, and organizational sustainability to support the future competitiveness of higher education institutions.
