Abstract

Hypertension prevalence data in Indonesia shows that nearly one-third of the adult population suffers from hypertension, which often leads to serious complications such as stroke and kidney failure if not properly treated. Hypertension management requires rational therapy, but often faces Drug-Related Problems (DRPs) that can compromise treatment success. This study aimed to identify DRPs in hypertensive patients at the Clinic “X” in Bengkulu from January to December 2024. The study used a retrospective descriptive design, with medical records of 111 patients reviewed. Results showed that the majority of patients were aged 45–54 years (45.05%) and 55–64 years (35.14%), with a higher proportion of women (54.05%). The most common hypertension classification was stage I (45.95%), followed by prehypertension (27.93%). The DRPs identified included medications without indications, inappropriate medications, too high doses, too low doses, and the need for additional medications. Identification of DRPs is expected to help improve treatment rationality and the quality of clinical pharmacy services, and can serve as a basis for evaluating hypertension therapy management in healthcare facilities.
