Abstract

Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a global health problem that affects the immune system and increases susceptibility to opportunistic infections. Nurses play an important role in providing care to HIV patients; therefore, their level of knowledge is a key factor influencing the quality of patient management. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between nurses’ knowledge level and the management of HIV patients at RSUD Tugu Jaya in 2026. Methods: This study employed a quantitative method with a descriptive analytic design and a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all nurses providing care to HIV patients at RSUD Tugu Jaya, totaling 33 respondents. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Chi-Square test. Results: The findings showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge (19 respondents; 57.6%) and good patient management (24 respondents; 72.7%). Statistical analysis yielded a Pearson Chi-Square value of χ² = 29.481 with a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between nurses’ knowledge level and the management of HIV patients. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between nurses’ knowledge level and the management of HIV patients at RSUD Tugu Jaya in 2026. Higher levels of nurses’ knowledge are associated with better patient management for HIV patients. Keywords: HIV, Nurses’ Knowledge, Patient Management
