Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the different types of complaints, the components that cause complaints, and the methods used to handle complaints. The Bin Baz Son Islamic Center Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta is the place where this investigation was carried out. Qualitative descriptive methods are used to collect data through observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of the study showed that there were nine types of complaints that emerged related to problems: cleanliness, safety, food quality, health, complaint services, intracurricular activities, additional needs, facilities and infrastructure, and laundry. The responsibility of the mudir, the head of the pesantren division, the head of caregiving, and the caregiver to handle complaints. Management functions such as planning, organizing, mobilizing, and supervising are used in the management of complaints that arise. This study found that, even though there was no Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) officially issued by the head of the boarding school, the handling of complaints from the guardians of students and students at the Bin Baz Putra Center of the Islamic Boarding School went well. This is shown by the lack of guardians of students who attract their children to be transferred to other Islamic boarding schools and the number of students who continue to increase every year.

Abstract

Character education is a primary focus in the development of the educational system at Pesantren Ulil Albab Ngawi. As an Islamic educational institution, it implements the learning of the Kitab Taklim Muta'alim as a means to strengthen the character education of its santri (students). This research aims to analyze how learning the Kitab Taklim Muta'alim can contribute to reinforcing character values. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach, where data was obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research results indicate that learning the Kitab Taklim Muta'alim not only teaches religious aspects but also shapes positive attitudes and behaviors such as politeness, humility, honesty, responsibility, and discipline among the pesantren community, which form the foundation of santri character. To further strengthen character education through the Kitab Taklim Muta'alim at Pesantren Ulil Albab Ngawi, recommendations include: developing teacher training programs, integrating experience-based learning, and establishing assessment and monitoring mechanisms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of teachers in customer service at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Jamilurrahman and MI Islamic Centre Bin Baz (ICBB) in Bantul Regency, DIY. The extra behavior of the teacher's role is considered crucial to maintain the quality of educational services in the midst of fierce competition, which will ultimately affect customer satisfaction (parents/guardians of students) and the sustainability of the institution. The approach used is quantitative descriptive. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire (1-5) that measured five dimensions of extra-role behaviors (Altruism, Conscientiousness, Sportsmanship, Courtesy, and Civic Virtue). The sample used is the population, namely all teachers of MI Jamilurrahman (N=24) and MI ICBB (N=29) for the 2025/2026 school year. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode). The results of the analysis showed that the extra behavior of teachers' roles in the two madrasas was in the category of High to Very High. The average score (Mean) of the extra behavior of the role of MI Jamilurrahman teacher is 67.77 (Very High Category), while MI ICBB is 65.62 (High Category). Overall, the extra behavior of the role of MI Jamilurrahman teachers is slightly superior (+2.15) to MI ICBB. MI Jamilurrahman's superiority is also seen in each dimension of extra role behavior: Altruism (+0.19), Conscientiousness (+1.15), Sportsmanship (+0.06), Courtesy (+0.15), and Civic Virtue (+0.60). This difference indicates that MI Jamilurrahman teachers have slightly higher potential for initiative, volunteerism, and dedication beyond formal duties, likely supported by a more collaborative and supportive organizational climate.
