Abstract

This research is motivated by students' learning outcomes which are still low, during the learning process students are less active, students lack focus and pay attention beyond the concept of the material, students lack self-confidence when asked by the teacher to express opinions, lack of student cooperation in the learning process, when learning is still centered on the teacher or teacher centre. The aim of this research is to describe the improvement in student learning outcomes in science learning using models take and give Class IV of SD Negeri 01 Pasar Ladang Panjang, Pasaman Regency. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) using qualitative and quantitative approaches. Implemented in two cycles, cycle I consists of 2 meetings and cycle II consists of 1 meeting. Each cycle includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects in this research were teachers and 24 class IV students at SD Negeri 01 Pasar Ladang Panjang, Pasaman Regency. Data from this research were obtained from the assessment of teaching modules, implementation processes, and learning outcomes. Data collection techniques use test sheets and non-test sheets. The results showed an increase from cycle I to cycle II. The increase in research results is in: a) Teaching modules in cycle I, namely 81.81% (good) and cycle II 93.18% (very good), b) Teacher activity in cycle I 79.54% (fair) and cycle II 90 .90% (very good), c) Student activity in cycle I 79.54% (fair) and cycle II 90.90% (very good), d) Learning outcomes of cycle I students obtained an average of 74.92 and cycle II obtained an average of 86.3. Based on the results obtained from the research, it can be concluded that the model take and give can improve student learning outcomes in science learning.
