Abstract

Learning evaluation plays a strategic role in measuring the achievement of educational objectives and serves as a basis for improving the learning process. In the context of Christian Religious Education, evaluation focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also on the internalization of Christian values as a guide to life, thus requiring high-quality and tested instruments. This study aims to analyze the quality of multiple-choice questions on the topic "Christian Values as My Lifeline" for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Nabire, in terms of validity, discriminating power, and difficulty level. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive-evaluative approach. The subjects were seventh-grade students selected using purposive sampling. The instrument consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions with five answer alternatives. Data collection was conducted through a learning achievement test, while data analysis included validity testing using product-moment correlation, discriminating power analysis, and difficulty level analysis. The results showed that most of the items were of fairly good quality. A total of 15 items were declared valid and 10 were invalid, indicating that the instrument adequately represented the learning indicators, although some still needed improvement. The discriminatory power of the items was in the fair to good category, with a small number of items not being able to optimally differentiate student abilities. The difficulty level was predominantly in the moderate and easy categories, indicating a relatively balanced distribution of item difficulty and appropriateness for learning evaluation. These findings contribute to the development of more effective evaluation instruments, particularly for values-based learning. The study's conclusions indicate that the test instrument is of suitable quality for use in learning evaluation, but requires revision to items that are invalid and have low discriminatory power. This study recommends the importance of ongoing item analysis to improve evaluation quality and encourages further research that integrates reliability analysis and a more comprehensive measurement approach.

Abstract

Improving the quality of basic education requires evaluation instruments capable of objectively and accurately measuring learning outcomes. However, in practice, the quality of multiple-choice questions in elementary schools still does not fully meet the criteria for good evaluation, requiring an in-depth analysis of the questions used. This study aims to analyze the quality of multiple-choice questions on natural resources for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Inpres Kota Baru Nabire by examining validity, reliability, discriminatory power, and difficulty levels. The method used was a quantitative approach with a descriptive evaluative approach, involving fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included tests and data analysis using the Anates application. The results showed that all questions were valid with correlation coefficients above r table. The instrument's reliability was in the good category with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.731. Most questions had sufficient to good discriminatory power, and the difficulty level was in the easy and medium categories, indicating a balanced distribution. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of higher-quality learning evaluation instruments based on empirical data. The study's conclusions indicate that the test instrument is suitable for use with some improvements to items with low discriminating power. It also recommends developing items based on Higher Order Thinking Skills and further analyzing the effectiveness of distractors to improve the quality of future learning evaluations.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of quality evaluation instruments in elementary school mathematics learning, particularly in calculating plane figures, which demands conceptual accuracy and students' numeracy skills. Instruments that do not meet quality standards have the potential to produce inaccurate measurements, impacting learning decisions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality of multiple-choice test items based on validity, reliability, difficulty index, and discriminatory power in third-grade elementary school students. The method used was a quantitative descriptive approach, with third-grade students at SD Negeri Inpres Kotabaru in Nabire as the subjects. Data collection was conducted using an objective multiple-choice test with five answer options. Data analysis used the Pearson Product Moment test for validity, the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient for reliability, and analysis of the difficulty index and discriminatory power to assess item quality. The results showed that all test items were valid because their calculated r values were greater than the table r and significance below 0.05. The instrument also had very high reliability, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.946, indicating strong internal consistency. The difficulty index analysis showed that the majority of questions fell into the moderate category, with a distribution between easy and very easy, supporting diverse student ability levels. The discriminatory power analysis showed that the majority of questions fell into the good and excellent categories, effectively discriminating student abilities. These findings contribute to the development of high-quality, empirically analyzed evaluation instruments in elementary school mathematics learning. The study's conclusions confirm that the developed instrument meets high-quality standards and is suitable for use as a learning evaluation tool. Implications of this study include strengthening data-driven evaluation practices, increasing the accuracy of learning outcome assessments, and developing more systematic instruments. Further research recommendations focus on broader instrument testing and the development of technology-based evaluation models to enhance learning effectiveness.
