Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the STEAM-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) model incorporating local wisdom of making lanterns from angpao waste on collaboration and creativity skills of fifth-grade students at SDN 25 Singkawang. The problem identified was low collaboration and creativity due to teacher-centered learning. The research employed a one-group pretest-posttest design with 20 subjects. Instruments included collaboration observation sheets and product creativity rubrics validated by experts (CVI=0.89) and reliable (Cronbach's Alpha=0.82). Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test and N-Gain. Results showed a significant increase in collaboration and creativity simultaneously (Pillai's Trace = 0.732; F = 12.48; p = 0.000). N-Gain for collaboration was 0.62 (moderate category) and for creativity was 0.72 (high category). This study concludes that the STEAM-based PjBL model incorporating local wisdom of lantern-making has a significant positive effect on elementary school students' collaboration and creativity. The novelty lies in integrating local wisdom of used angpao lanterns into STEAM-based PjBL in elementary schools, particularly in West Kalimantan, which has been rarely studied.
