Abstract

This study aims to describe students polite speech etiquette, analyze the efforts of Aqidah Akhlak teachers in fostering polite speech etiquette through exemplary role models, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al-Huda Dendang, East Tanjung Jabung Regency. The background of this research is based on the finding that students still speak impolitely, such as using harsh words, mocking friends, and being disrespectful to teachers. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The research subjects included the Aqidah Akhlak teacher, eighth-grade students, and the madrasah principal. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that students' polite speech etiquette has shown positive changes, especially toward teachers, but inconsistency is still found when interacting with peers. The efforts of the Aqidah Akhlak teacher were carried out through three forms of exemplary role modeling, namely speech modeling, attitude modeling, and classroom habituation, as well as providing advice and cooperating with parents. Supporting factors include the religious environment and school culture, while inhibiting factors include students own habits, the influence of social media, and less conducive classroom conditions.
