Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of industrial agglomeration on regional inequality in the core industrial region of East Java, which includes Surabaya, Gresik, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, and Pasuruan. The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression analysis for the period 2015–2024. Industrial agglomeration is measured using the Balassa Index, while regional inequality is measured using the Williamson Index. The results indicate that industrial agglomeration has a negative and significant effect on regional inequality. This suggests that the development of industrial activities not only drives economic growth in the core region but also creates spillover effects through labor absorption, economic distribution, and inter-regional linkages, thereby supporting equitable development in the core industrial region of East Java.
