Abstract

This study discusses the development of an Augmented Reality (AR)-based e-book for learning men’s shirt pattern drafting in the Fashion Education Study Program. The research was motivated by the limited use of interactive learning media in pattern-making courses, which often causes students to experience difficulties in understanding measurement techniques, pattern construction, and the sequence of drafting processes. The purpose of this study was to develop an AR-based e-book that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ understanding and learning motivation in men’s shirt pattern drafting. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and validation sheets involving material experts, media experts, and students. The results showed that the AR-based e-book obtained a very valid category from experts, a practical category based on student responses, and was effective in supporting the learning process. The integration of AR technology enabled students to visualize pattern-making steps in a more concrete, interactive, and engaging way. Therefore, the AR-based e-book can be used as an innovative learning medium in fashion education, particularly in teaching men’s shirt pattern drafting.
