Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of managing child-friendly schools based on religious values in a multicultural society, particularly in Islamic educational institutions located in non-Muslim-majority areas such as Bali. SDIT Al Banna Denpasar is an example of an Islamic school that has maintained its Islamic identity while building harmonious relationships with the local Balinese culture. This study aims to analyze the implementation of child-friendly and Islamic school management at SDIT Al Banna Denpasar and its adaptation strategies to the Balinese socio-cultural environment. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that SDIT Al Banna successfully integrated the National Curriculum, the Merdeka Curriculum, and the JSIT curriculum to build a religious, inclusive, and globally competitive education. The implementation of child-friendly schools is realized through humanistic learning, counseling services, inclusive education, and strengthening Islamic character. Furthermore, Balinese cultural values such as menyama braya and social tolerance support harmonious relationships between schools and the surrounding community. This research highlights the importance of adaptive, moderate, and culturally-based Islamic education management in developing child-friendly schools in multicultural environments.
