<![CDATA[This study aimed to describe the effect of the Project Based Learning model on the knowledge of Riau Malay culture among fourth-grade students at SDN 183 Pekanbaru. This research employed an experimental method with a pre-experimental design using the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 30 students from Class IV C. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments as well as student activity observation sheets. The results showed an improvement in students’ knowledge of Riau Malay culture after the implementation of the Project Based Learning model. The average pretest score increased from 61.50 to 74.00 on the posttest. Furthermore, the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, demonstrating a significant effect of the Project Based Learning model on students’ knowledge of Riau Malay culture. Student learning activities were also categorized as very good, with an average percentage of 89.81%. Therefore, the Project Based Learning model can be considered an effective learning alternative for improving students’ knowledge of local culture and enhancing their active participation in the learning process. The implementation of Project Based Learning provided meaningful learning experiences by involving students directly in observing, collecting information, discussing, developing projects, and presenting the results. Through project activities related to Zapin dance, traditional Malay games, and traditional Malay houses, students were encouraged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop creativity and responsibility.
