Abstract

Pancasila Education learning at SMP Gedeg Swasta, Mojokerto Regency, was still dominated by lecture based instruction with limited use of media and technology, resulting in monotonous learning, low student motivation, boredom, and limited active participation. This study aimed to examine the effect of the SAVI method, consisting of Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual activities, on the learning motivation and learning outcomes of Grade VIII students in Pancasila Education. This research used a quasi experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 52 students, namely 26 students of class VIII C as the experimental class and 26 students of class VIII D as the control class. Data were collected through multiple choice tests and learning motivation questionnaires administered before and after treatment. The results showed that the application of the SAVI method significantly improved students’ learning motivation and learning outcomes. The N-Gain score of learning motivation was 0.55, categorized as moderate, while the N-Gain score of learning outcomes was 0.71, categorized as high. The Independent Sample T-Test using SPSS 27 showed a significance value of < 0.001 for both motivation and learning outcomes. Therefore, the SAVI method can be considered an effective alternative learning method to create more active, interactive, and meaningful Pancasila Education learning.
