The low ability of vocational high school students to effectively complete architectural drawing assignments is the primary issue underlying this study, particularly due to the dominance of conventional learning approaches that are passive and lack practical application. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Project Based Learning model on the achievement of core competencies and alignment with the Indonesian National Occupational Competency Standards (SKKNI) for Architectural Drafters among students in the Construction and Housing Engineering Department at State Vocational High School 3 Boyolangu. The theoretical framework used the includes the concept oh project based learning model according to Thomas (2000) and Fathurohman (2020), the theory of basic competency attainment in the Merdeka Curriculum, and the SKKNI framework for the construction sector. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design using the causal associations method. Data collections was conducted through direct performance test using AutoCAD and the assessment og working drawing portfolios for 73 eleventh-grade students. data analysis utilized simple linear regression, t-tests, and the coefficients of determination via SPSS 27. The result indicate that performance in Project Based Learning significantly influences the achievement of Basic Competencies (t-calculated = 5,984; sig. < 0,001; R2 = 33,5%), whereas portfolio assessment does not significantly influence SKKNI (sig. = 0,126; R2 = 3,3%). Conclusion: Project Based Learning is effective in improving students psychomotor basic competencies through hands-on practice, however portfolio documentation needs to be reoriented to better align with industry competency standards.
