Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of science literacy-based YouTube educational videos in improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Lamteh on the topic of the human respiratory system. This study employed a quantitative approach using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population of this study consisted of all fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Lamteh, totaling 38 students, all of whom were selected as the research sample through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the mean pretest score of students before the implementation of science literacy-based YouTube educational videos was 55.66. After the implementation of the learning media, the mean posttest score increased to 72.76. The results of the paired sample t-test indicated a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), demonstrating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. In addition, the N-Gain score was 0.36, which was categorized as moderate. Observation results also revealed that students became more active and enthusiastic during the learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that science literacy-based YouTube educational videos are effective in improving elementary school students’ learning outcomes on the topic of the human respiratory system.
