Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Bamboozle on first-grade elementary school students’ numeracy understanding. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of two groups: an experimental class taught using the PBL model assisted by Bamboozle and a control class taught using conventional learning. Data were collected through a numeracy ability test, while data analysis included normality testing, homogeneity testing, and an Independent Sample T-Test. The normality test results showed significance values of 0.150 for the control class and 0.055 for the experimental class, indicating that the data were normally distributed. The homogeneity test showed a significance value of 0.303 > 0.05, indicating that the data were homogeneous. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.027 < 0.05, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The difference in mean scores between the experimental class (68.8) and the control class (58) indicated an improvement in students’ numeracy ability of 10.8 points. Therefore, it can be concluded that the PBL learning model assisted by Bamboozle has a significant effect on the numeracy ability of first-grade elementary school students.
