Abstract

Listening instruction is one of the language skills that plays an important role in improving students' communication abilities. However, in practice, this skill often receives less attention and is still taught using conventional approaches. This article aims to describe the importance of innovation in instructional media and teaching methods to enhance the effectiveness of listening instruction. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach through the analysis of various theories, literature sources, and research findings related to listening instruction. The results indicate that the use of innovative media, such as audio, video, and educational technology, can create a more engaging and interactive learning environment. In addition, the implementation of creative methods, such as problem-solving, discussions, brainstorming, and participatory activities, can increase student involvement and encourage their ability to critically comprehend information.By integrating diverse instructional media and teaching methods, the listening process becomes not merely a passive activity but an active learning experience that engages cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects more comprehensively. This instructional innovation has been proven to improve the effectiveness of listening instruction while also supporting the development of other language skills.
