Abstract

Work competence is a key factor in improving employee performance and supporting the achievement of organizational goals. One of the factors that contributes to the development of employee competence is work experience, which enables employees to acquire knowledge, skills, and practical abilities through continuous involvement in job-related activities. This study aims to examine the influence of work experience on employee work competence at the KKSP Unit of PT Semen Padang. A quantitative approach was employed, and data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees of the KKSP Unit. The findings indicate that work experience has a positive influence on employee work competence. Employees with greater work experience demonstrate better technical skills, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and overall job performance. These findings suggest that work experience plays an important role in enhancing employee competence and should be considered in the company’s human resource development strategies. Therefore, providing employees with opportunities to gain diverse work experiences and continuous learning is expected to strengthen their competencies and contribute to organizational performance.
