Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of collaboration in animation learning toward the work readiness of Grade XI Multimedia students at SMKN 1 Takeran in the Industry 5.0 era. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through interviews with animation teachers and students, as well as classroom observations during collaborative project-based learning activities. The collected data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while source and technique triangulation were applied to ensure data credibility. The findings indicate that collaborative animation learning enhances students' technical competence alongside essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, responsibility, creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability. Students also gained experience in completing animation projects that reflected professional practices in the creative industry, thereby increasing their confidence and readiness to enter the workforce. Although challenges such as unequal participation and limited learning facilities were identified, collaborative learning proved to be an effective strategy for preparing vocational students to meet the demands of the human-centered and technology-driven Industry 5.0.
