Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to identify the process of data collection and distribution of social assistance in Bono Village, analyze the communication dynamics between village officials and the community in the distribution of social assistance, and understand the meaning of social assistance for beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (PKH) in fulfilling their daily needs. The background of this research is based on several issues in the distribution of social assistance, such as inaccurate targeting of beneficiaries, lack of information transparency, and weak communication between village officials and the community, which have led to social jealousy and decreased public trust in the village government. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of village officials, PKH facilitators, and social assistance recipients in Bono Village. Data analysis techniques used an interactive analysis model, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the process of data collection and distribution of social assistance in Bono Village still faces several challenges, particularly the inaccuracy of beneficiary data due to changes in the socio-economic conditions of the community that are not regularly updated. The communication dynamics between village officials and the community tend to be one-way, causing the community to receive insufficient and unclear information regarding the mechanisms of data collection and assistance distribution. On the other hand, social assistance has a highly significant meaning for beneficiaries as it helps fulfill educational, health, and daily basic needs. Social assistance is not only perceived as economic support but also as a form of the state's presence in providing social protection for poor and vulnerable communities. Keywords: social assistance, Family Hope Program (PKH), communication dynamics, social reality, Bono Village.
