Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and communication technology has accelerated the transformation of conventional learning into a more adaptive, interactive, and integrated digital learning environment. This study aims to design, develop, and evaluate an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smart Learning Environment that integrates classroom environmental monitoring, a collaborative learning platform through a Virtual Board, and an intelligent online examination proctoring system based on Computer Vision and browser activity monitoring within a single platform. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, consisting of system requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and evaluation stages. The proposed system utilizes IoT devices to monitor classroom environmental conditions in real time, web-based technology to facilitate multi-user collaborative learning via a Virtual Board, and Artificial Intelligence with webcam-based Computer Vision to detect suspicious behaviors during online examinations. Real-time communication between hardware devices, the server, and the web application enables seamless integration among all subsystems. System evaluation was conducted through functionality testing, real-time data communication testing, subsystem integration testing, and overall performance evaluation. The results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively monitors classroom environmental conditions in real time, supports collaborative digital learning, and enhances examination integrity through user behavior detection and browser activity monitoring. The integration of these technologies into a unified platform contributes to improving learning comfort, instructional effectiveness, energy efficiency, and the integrity of digital assessment processes, while supporting the implementation of a Smart Campus ecosystem.
