Abstract

Decision fatigue is a condition that erodes a person's ability to make choices after going through a series of decision-making processes within a certain period of time. In the educational context this condition can become a distinct cognitive burden for educators when faced with the challenge of choosing learning media that not only aligns with teaching objectives but must also be able to meet the diverse needs of students simultaneously. This research aims to find mitigation strategies that can help minimize teachers' decision fatigue especially in the process of selecting appropriate and effective learning media. The systematic literature review method with reference to the PRISMA guidelines was applied as the methodological foundation in this research. Data sources were obtained from articles published in the range of 2021 to 2026 where from a total of 12,600 previously identified studies as many as 21 studies were selected according to predetermined criteria for further in-depth analysis. The findings of this study reveal that there are three main approaches that can be applied to reduce decision fatigue among teachers namely the application of a systematic media selection framework as well as the use of artificial intelligence-based recommendation systems and the improvement of teachers' digital literacy through continuous training programs. These three approaches are believed to be able to ease the mental burden of teachers as well as accelerate the decision-making process and help them determine the learning tools that best suit students' needs. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference for schools as well as educational managers and researchers in designing a more efficient system to support decision-making related to learning media selection.
