Abstract

Gendang Beleq and Peresean traditions in instilling the value of love for local culture among Grade III students at SD Negeri 1 Kembang Sari in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of a Grade III teacher and 28 Grade III students at  SD Negeri 1 Kembang Sari. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the implementation of IPAS learning based on the Gendang Beleq and Peresean traditions was able to create contextual, active, and meaningful learning experiences for students. The learning process was carried out through the use of videos, images of local culture, group discussions, educational games, presentations, and simple role-play activities. The cultural values integrated into the learning process included cooperation, discipline, togetherness, bravery, sportsmanship, and mutual respect. The implementation of local culture-based learning positively affected students’ learning enthusiasm, participation, self-confidence, and understanding of their local culture. In addition, students demonstrated pride, awareness, and interest in preserving local culture through active participation in classroom learning and cultural art activities at school. Although several obstacles were encountered, such as limited learning media, differences in students’ prior knowledge, and limited instructional time, teachers were able to overcome these challenges through the use of digital media and interactive learning strategies. Therefore, IPAS learning based on the Gendang Beleq and Peresean traditions can serve as an effective learning alternative in instilling the value of love for local culture while supporting the preservation of local culture through elementary school education.
