Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of MANTRA (Traditional Food) cards as a learning medium in elementary schools to improve the quality of lessons, particularly on the concept of geometric shapes. MANTRA cards are flashcards that display various shapes and explanations of traditional foods. This study used a qualitative, descriptive approach, with literature review and reflection on field practice. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation, with classroom teachers and students as key informants. The results indicate that this media is effective in improving students' understanding of geometric shapes through an ethnomathematics approach, and is able to increase motivation, creativity, and cultural pride. This media facilitates visual, interactive, and meaningful learning by connecting abstract mathematical concepts with familiar cultural objects. Reflections on field practice show that students are more enthusiastic and actively involved in identifying geometric shapes in various traditional foods. The main obstacle lies in the limited collection of traditional foods that students are familiar with across regions. Therefore, MANTRA cards are recommended as an innovative learning medium that integrates mathematics education and local cultural recognition to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.
