Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of the story of Prophet Musa (Moses) and Prophet Khidir in Surah Al-Kahf verses 60–82 as a model for character building among Generation Z students. The study is motivated by various character challenges faced by Generation Z in the digital era, including low levels of patience, declining respect for teachers, and a tendency to seek instant information without undergoing meaningful learning processes. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using library research methods. Data were collected from the Qur’an, Hadith, books, and scientific articles related to character education and Islamic education. Data analysis was conducted through data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing from the reviewed sources. The findings indicate that the story of Prophet Musa and Prophet Khidir contains essential character values, including humility, patience, discipline, responsibility, enthusiasm for learning, respect for teachers, and critical thinking skills. These values are highly relevant to the character development of Generation Z and can be integrated into educational practices through teacher role modeling, positive habit formation, strengthening religious education, and the wise use of technology. Therefore, the story of Prophet Musa and Prophet Khidir can serve as an effective model of character education in addressing the challenges of the twenty-first century.
