Abstract

The paradigm shift in higher education demands that lecturers transform into charismatic mentors. Based on contemporary psychometric approaches, lecturer charisma is defined as a social attribution made by students (effects-based attribution). However, reality reveals phenomena such as academic boredom and monotonous teaching styles, which indicate a low level of such attribution. Current lecturer evaluations remain largely administrative, while the majority of existing charisma instruments are oriented toward political or military contexts. This study aims to develop and test the psychometric properties of a measurement tool for the latent variable of lecturer charisma. The instrument's construct was developed based on the five dimensions of the Constructed Charisma Framework (CCF): capturing attention, behavioral influence, making people believe, effects on emotion, and having devoted followers. The initial development generated 60 items, which were evaluated through expert judgment using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR), leaving 58 items. A field pilot study involving 34 students yielded a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.797, with 31 items meeting the statistical criteria. Furthermore, the construct validity test using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) on 116 respondents produced model values of X2 = 780 (df = 433, P < 0.001), {SRMR} = 0.0886, and {RMSEA} = 0.0831. These findings confirm that this instrument is valid and reliable for use as a diagnostic evaluation tool to measure the influence of a lecturer's charismatic personality on student learning dynamics.
