Abstract

Character education in elementary schools is an essential effort to build students' moral foundations and attitudes. This research aims to analyze the teacher's role in shaping the character education of elementary school students at SD Negeri 11 Metro Pusat, specifically examining the strategies, values instilled, obstacles, and effective solutions in both lower and upper grades. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected through structured interviews with two teachers at SD Negeri 11 Metro Pusat handling Grade 1 and Grade 4. The findings reveal that teachers play a crucial role as role models and facilitators in character building. Character education is integrated throughout the learning process and applied consistently in the school environment. The most frequently instilled values include spiritual values, discipline, and daily habits. However, a significant obstacle identified is the lack of alignment between school teachings and parental application at home. To overcome this, teachers employ intensive communication, parenting programs, and resource person involvement. The study concludes that effective character education requires a synergistic collaboration between teachers, the school ecosystem, and parents
