Abstract

The community service program addressed the issue that task teachers had not yet systematically implemented the stages of Qur’anic learning, highlighting the need to optimize their pedagogical competence and teaching techniques. The program aimed to improve the pedagogical competence and teaching skills of task teachers through the systematic and structured application of the At-Tanzil Method. A Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach was employed through planning, orientation, training, teaching-practice simulations, and periodic evaluation to ensure active participation from the partners. The mentoring program successfully improved the understanding and practical skills of 32 task teachers in applying the At-Tanzil Method at Baiturrahman Mosque. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants’ average scores from 68 on the pretest to 88 on the posttest, representing a 20-point improvement. Furthermore, 90% of participants stated that the materials were easy to understand, 95% felt that the program helped improve their Qur’anic teaching techniques, and 90% expressed their commitment to continuing to use the method sustainably. Overall, the program successfully fostered a more active, structured, and effective learning environment for both teachers and students, thereby improving the quality of Qur’anic reading. The mentoring program based on the At-Tanzil Method proved effective in sustainably improving teachers’ instructional competence and the quality of Qur’anic learning. It also positively contributed to improving the quality of Qur’anic education while strengthening synergy between Islamic boarding schools and the mosque community.
