Abstract

The Kuliah Pengabdian Masyarakat (KPM) program is not only a means of applying students’ knowledge and skills but also a space for developing educational activities that respond to the needs and potential of local communities. This community service activity aimed to describe the implementation of the Aksara Meuseuraya program as a form of community-based educational assistance in Gampong Mulieng Meucat. The activity employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, direct participation, and documentation. The program consisted of needs identification, program planning, implementation and mentoring, and reflection. Aksara Meuseuraya included assistance in reading the Qur’an and Iqra’, basic reading, writing and numeracy, daily prayers, educational games, character development, and anti-bullying education. The results indicate that utilizing the meunasah as a learning space can connect literacy, religious education, and social interaction within an environment closely related to children’s everyday lives. A relational approach characterized by patience, attention, friendly communication, and respect for differences in children’s abilities also supported a more comfortable and participatory learning environment. The program encountered challenges related to language differences and limited learning facilities, which were addressed through the use of Acehnese–Indonesian language, visual and nonverbal communication, and simple learning media. Overall, the integration of Aksara Meuseuraya, the values of the Love-Based Curriculum, and the educational potential of the meunasah shows potential for developing contextual community-based educational assistance that responds to children’s learning needs.
