Abstract

Postoperative pain following caesarean section may interfere with patient comfort and the recovery process. One of the non-pharmacological approaches to pain management is five-finger hypnosis therapy. This Community Service Program aimed to implement five-finger hypnosis therapy to reduce pain intensity and improve patients’ knowledge following caesarean section under spinal anesthesia at Dr. R. Goeteng Taroenadibrata Regional General Hospital, Purbalingga. The methods included pain assessment using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), a knowledge pre-test, distribution of educational leaflets, implementation of five-finger hypnosis therapy for 10 minutes, followed by a post-test and reassessment of pain intensity in 30 patients. The results showed an increase in the proportion of patients experiencing mild pain from 56.7% to 93.3% and a decrease in moderate pain from 43.3% to 6.7%. The proportion of patients with a good level of knowledge also increased from 16.7% to 96.7 The implementation of Five-Finger Hypnosis Therapy resulted in decreased postoperative pain intensity and improved knowledge among patients following cesarean section.
