<![CDATA[In response to the growing demand for technology-enhanced and culturally responsive pedagogy, local folklore-based digital storytelling has emerged as a promising instructional approach that integrates multimedia learning with culturally meaningful narrative content to foster language development. This study examined the effect of digital storytelling based on Banten local folklore on senior high school students’ narrative writing performance in an Indonesian EFL context. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, the study involved 75 tenth-grade students at a public senior high school in Banten, Indonesia. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test writing assessments and analysed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The findings indicated that the t-value (2.104) was higher than the critical t-value (1.672) at the 0.05 significance level, confirming that local folklore-based digital storytelling had a significant positive effect on senior high school students’ narrative writing performance. The integration of familiar cultural narratives and multimedia resources appeared to enhance students’ engagement, creativity, and confidence in writing. This study contributes empirical evidence to technology-enhanced and culturally responsive language learning research, particularly within Indonesian secondary education, and offers practical implications for English teachers seeking innovative writing instruction strategies that also support local cultural preservation.]]>
