Abstract

The main issue in elementary school mathematics learning is students’ low ability to perform addition and subtraction operations, as well as the lack of engaging and contextual learning media. This study aims to develop an animated video based on Balinese local wisdom using the Inquiry Learning model to enhance the arithmetic skills of second-grade elementary students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The study subjects included media experts, material experts, classroom teachers, and second-grade students. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and tests, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that integrating local wisdom into the animated learning media not only increased learning effectiveness but also instilled cultural values in students from an early age. The developed media was found to be highly valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ arithmetic skills. Therefore, this media is considered suitable for use in mathematics learning for lower elementary grades.
