Abstract

The thesis archiving process in the Informatics Engineering Study Program at the Institute of Teacher Education and Technology Larantuka (IKTL) is still carried out using conventional methods, resulting in inefficient document retrieval. This study aims to design and develop a web-based repository system by implementing the Sequential Search algorithm to improve the efficiency of thesis document searches. The system was developed using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with the Waterfall model. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires involving 112 respondents. The Sequential Search algorithm was implemented using Python integrated with PHP and MySQL to search documents based on their metadata. The Black Box Testing results showed that all system features functioned successfully (100%). Algorithm testing on datasets of 50, 100, and 200 records produced response times of 15 ms, 30 ms, and 65 ms, respectively, with 100% accuracy. The System Usability Scale (SUS) evaluation achieved a score of 86.25, which falls into the Excellent category. The results indicate that the developed repository system provides a centralized storage solution while improving the speed and ease of searching academic documents.
