Abstract

The quality of physical facilities (tangibles) within an airport environment plays an essential role in shaping the perception and comfort level of air transportation users. This study aims to examine and empirically analyze the effect of waiting room chair comfort quality and toilet cleanliness on passenger satisfaction in the departure area of Adi Soemarmo Airport, Surakarta. This study utilizes an associative quantitative research design by distributing structured questionnaires to 100 respondents selected via the accidental sampling method. The data analysis techniques applied include instrument tests (validity and reliability), classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis using statistical software. The results of partial hypothesis testing indicate that the comfort quality of waiting room chairs has a positive and significant effect on passenger satisfaction (t = 7.459; p < 0.05). Similarly, the toilet cleanliness variable is proven to have a positive and significant effect on passenger satisfaction (t = 3.020; p<0.05). Simultaneously, both independent variables significantly impact the dependent variable (F = 36.185; p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination () obtained is 0.427, indicating that 42.7% of the variation in passenger satisfaction can be explained by waiting room chair comfort and toilet cleanliness, while the remaining portion is influenced by other external factors outside this regression model. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are further discussed to support the optimization of airport facilities management.
