Abstract

This study examines the performance of working undergraduate students in Garut, responding to escalating industrial demands for experienced graduates. Employing a quantitative approach, data were gathered via questionnaires from 100 students (cohorts 2021–2025) selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was executed utilizing PLS-SEM via SmartPLS 3.0 software. Hypothesis testing demonstrates that workload exerts a significant positive influence on student-workers' performance, identifying such pressure as a strategic challenge stressor that stimulates self-development. Work-life balance also significantly enhances performance, bolstered by time-management flexibility. Theoretically, this research reinforces the validity of the Challenge-Hindrance Stressor Framework and extends support for the Theory of Work-Family Enrichment, confirming that academic roles enrich workplace performance. Practically, managerial implications emphasize the urgency for companies to provide scheduling flexibility for student employees to minimize potential role conflict while maintaining an optimal work ethic.
